Happy New Year . . . Almost!

The New Year is almost here!  We have officially been open for almost 4 months now, but it seems like we've been here much longer!  The start of 2012 will put an end to our odd hours of late and will be the start of implementing a few changes that we have been contemplating in the past months. 

Just a quick comment regarding our hours.  This week we will be adhering to our normal hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 

Next week we will be closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and will resume our normal hours on Wednesday, January 4.

We have a new flavor this week to help ring in 2012 . . .

 Strawberry Champagne

Champagne infused white cake filled with strawberry preserves

and topped with strawberry buttercream

We will also have a limited number of decorated sugar cookies available on Friday and Saturday.

Let us know what you would like to see in January!  We have already had requests for PB & J Cupcakes, Pecan Pie, Tiramisu and White Chocolate Macademia Nut.  We are always looking for new ideas!

Christmas is Coming!

So, last week I said the Christmas/Holiday Menu would be posted within the next week.  Well, that didn't happen, so I am shooting for this week!  Things have been super busy! 

We are pretty much booked for specialty cakes through Christmas, with only a couple spots left for New Year's cakes. 

So, the only special orders we will be accepting in the upcoming weeks will be orders placed from the Christmas/Holiday Menu, which will include . . .

New Cupcakes This Week!

We are back to baking after our Thanksgiving holiday.  It was great to have a few days to relax and unwind and spend time with our families.  Now it's back to business!  We have two new cupcake flavors on the menu this week to kick off the Christmas season - Peppermint and Hot Chocolate.

Peppermint

Chocolate cake with a marshmallow cream filling, topped with spicy chocolate buttercream and marshmallows.

We will be releasing our Christmas menu by next weekend!  I cannot believe we are already getting ready to celebrate the end of the year holidays!  Our December Calendar looks like this . . .

We have special holiday hours this week . . .

 

Because we will be so busy early in the week, we will be taking a few days off to celebrate the holiday weekend with our families, rest up and begin baking for you again the following week. 

 

Holiday Hours:

Tuesday 10-6

Wednesday 10-6

Thursday Closed

Friday Closed

Saturday Closed

We will resume our normal hours the following Tuesday. 

Please stop in Tuesday or Wednesday to pick up your holiday treats!

We will have a limited number of full-sized desserts for sale on Wednesday.  Cheesecakes, pies, etc will be available on a first come, first serve basis, unless you previously placed your order ahead of time.

We will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Friday and Saturday.  We will resume our normal hours the following Tuesday.  If you have placed a previous order for that weekend, we will be calling to make arrangements for you to pick up your order when it is most convenient.

We are putting together our Thanksgiving Menu, as the holiday is fast approaching.  If you will need bakery treats for your holiday celebration, please call ahead and place your order, as soon as possible.  We will be offereing a limited menu that week in order to accomodate more special orders into our baking schedule. 

All special orders will need to be placed by Saturday, November 19. 

Orders will need to be picked up by Wednesday, November 23 at 6 p.m.

Two brand new cupcake flavors on the menu this week! Come in and try them out - Pecan Pie and Orange Creamsicle.  I have to say, they are both good, but the Pecan Pie is amazing!

A Few Changes . . .

Another busy week and another one on the horizon.  Halloween is fast approaching and we have tons of special requests for spooky treats.  We are completely booked for Saturday orders but still have a slot or two for Friday or Sunday pick up.  Yes, I said Sunday.  Normally we would be closed on Sunday but this Sunday, in honor of Halloween, we will be open from 10 - 2.  These are special holiday hours, not something we are planning to do weekly, at this point. 

We are, however, making a permanent change in our Friday hours.  After several weeks of talking about it and watching our sales during the early mornings and later hours of the day, we have decided that as of this Friday, we will now be open from 10 - 6 on Fridays.  We just do not have enough early morning traffic or later evening traffic to justify opening early or staying later at this point.  We appreciate the 3 or 4 of you that have come by early on Friday mornings and are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.  We just don't seem to be generating much business for breakfast.  Everybody wants cupcakes!  We will now be offering our Cinnamon Rolls just on Saturday mornings for those of you who still want to come by for breakfast.

A Customer Review . . .

I meant to post this in my weekly post on Sunday, but am just now getting around to it.  One of our first time customers sent me an email this past week after visiting our shop.  She bought our All Chocolate Cupcake and here's what she thought . . .

Hi Amy,

I just visited your cupcake café and enjoyed a chocolate ganache cupcake. I was thinking as I left with my cupcake, “Oh this is a big cupcake; I will eat half when I get back to the office and the other half later after dinner.” Well, I took one bite and I was lost in the land of chocolate, butter cream, chocolate, ganache, and more chocolate. I ate the whole thing in a state of mesmerizing chocolaty bliss! It is, umm, was, the best cupcake I have ever eaten! Wow! Whatever you are doing in that kitchen of yours is working, keep it up! I will be back soon and often.

This Week Was All About Cookies . . .

Once again, a busy week!  This past week we iced and bagged nearly 350 cookies for a variety of events!  Many, many, many long days for all of us.  I think we were all glad to have a break on Sunday.

Once again, if you know you will need to place an order for an event, please do so as soon as possible.  Our weekends are filling up quickly - sometimes two weeks in advance.  Since I am the only decorator right now, there are only so many orders that I can physically complete in one weekend.  We currently have orders on the calendar all the way through the month of November.  So be thinking about upcoming holidays and place your order early.

Babies, Birthdays, Brides and Breast Cancer . . .

It was a busy week again for special orders.  Here's what we made . . .

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  This week begins our fundraising effort for Susan G. Komen.  We will have pink ribbon cupcakes and/or cookies everyday during the month of October.  At the end of the month, we will donate a percentage of our sales from our pink products to help fight breast cancer.  So, please stop in and treat yourself to something pink and in doing so support a great cause!

October also means Halloween!  One of my favorite holidays!  We will be adding an extra day to our schedule this month to accomodate people that will need goodies for their Halloween parties.  Since Halloween falls on a Monday, and we are normally closed on Sundays and Mondays, we have decided to be open the Sunday before Halloween to allow for Halloween goodies to be picked up the day before Halloween.  We will be open from 10:00 - 2:00 on Sunday, October 30.  We will still be closed that Monday.  If you plan to order Halloween treats, please do so as soon as possible.  We are already partially booked for that weekend.

From now on, our weekly menu will be posted on Monday evenings.  Check back on Monday nights or Tuesday mornings to see what we are baking for the week.

It's Almost Been a Month!

This Friday will mark four weeks for us!  Things went much smoother this past week and we are starting to get a routine down, which is a relief.  Still putting in lots of hours, but not crazy hours!

We had plenty of special orders again this weekend and we participated in Taste of Telegraph on Saturday evening.  All of our samples were gone within 45 minutes!  I think they liked us!

A customer ordered cookies for a golf tournament that was benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training.  Golf ball cookies and a little cooke with a golf flag and the "TNT" for Team in Training.

We are just about booked with special orders for this coming weekend.  Just remember, if you will be needing a cake, cookies, cupcakes or any other dessert for an upcoming special occasion - please call us as soon as possible to get your order on the calendar.  Our weekends are filling up quickly!

We changed our Saturday hours this past weekend and it seemed to be a good decision.  From now on, we will be open from 9:00 - 3:00 on Saturdays.  We didn't have anyone that wanted in before 9:00 and just a few that wanted in after 3:00, so for now we are sticking to these hours on Saturdays. 

Starting October 1, we will be thinking pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month!   Our pink cupcakes - strawberry or raspberry - will be topped with pink ribbon sprinkles and we will be keeping track of the sales and donating a percentage to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000 and the St. Louis Komen Race has been a staple for us every June.  We will also have pink ribbon cookies available for pre-order by the dozen, and maybe a few available each week for walk-ins.  We will donate a percentage of the cookie sales, as well.  Can't wait to see what we are able to accomplish in the next month with your help!
